DB Insurance announced on the 14th that it has selected five final teams for the 'Transportation and Environment Challenge 5th Generation,' a social contribution project to discover, nurture, and support social venture founders and prospective entrepreneurs working to solve social problems in the transportation and environment sectors in partnership with the Korea Productivity Center. The 'Transportation and Environment Challenge,' jointly planned by DB Insurance and the Korea Productivity Center and sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, is a new form of sustainable social contribution project that discovers, supports, and nurtures social ventures equipped with innovative business solutions for transportation and environment-related social issues, thereby contributing to solving social problems and creating social value. First attempted in the domestic financial industry in 2019, the project is now in its fifth year. Through the selected social ventures, outcomes such as new job creation and increased sales have been demonstrated, and social value has been created including traffic accident prevention, climate change response, and carbon emission reduction. This year, teams were recruited for the 5th Generation Transportation and Environment Challenge over approximately four weeks from July 3rd to July 28th, with a total of 109 social ventures applying. After document screening, first-round face-to-face interviews, and presentation evaluations, five social ventures were ultimately selected. DB Insurance, the Korea Productivity Center, the Yoon Min-chang Foundation, and Underdogs jointly participated in the selection process, focusing their evaluation on the possibility of solving social problems and creating social value through the business solutions proposed by the participating teams. The five finally selected social ventures are 'Big Mobility,' a freight truck parking lot search platform; 'POGE,' an XR solution for strengthening traffic accident risk awareness; 'Eylabs,' a modular carbon dioxide resource recycling system; 'Madeline Memory,' a B2B secondhand market solution for brands; and 'Ames,' an automobile resource circulation solution utilizing data and artificial intelligence. DB Insurance plans to provide business support funds for the business activation of social ventures selected in the 5th generation, as well as 1:1 accelerating support for core startup competencies including legal affairs, taxation, accounting, marketing, and ESG. A DB Insurance official stated, "We hope that a better society will be created through innovative ideas discovered through the Transportation and Environment Challenge, and we will not spare our support so that the values of fairness and mutual prosperity, creativity and innovation led by social ventures can drive new growth momentum for our society."
