The Daejeon Creative Economy Innovation Center (Director Kim Jung-soo) announced that it held a final performance sharing session for the first cohort of the '2020 Social Impact Changers' on August 26th. The '2020 Social Impact Changers 1st Cohort' is a 12-week program that identifies and nurtures social ventures that solve social problems based on technological capabilities and ideas in the Daejeon region. The program was divided into a 2-week idea validation process and a 10-week business enhancement process. From mid-May to the end of May, an idea validation process was conducted to derive perspectives on social problems and concrete technology-based solutions and business models. Subsequently, through an intermediate sharing session in June, 21 outstanding teams were selected to receive support in business model advancement, mentoring on skillsets necessary for business management, and resources. At the final performance sharing session held that day, 21 teams presented their business models and achievements. Through evaluation, the Daejeon Metropolitan Mayor's Award (1st place) went to 'Care Dream,' which develops vests for people with developmental disabilities, and the Daejeon Creative Economy Innovation Center Director's Award (2nd place) went to 'Daeyoung Market,' which develops smart animal repellent devices using ultrasonic and solar technology. The Center Director's Awards went to ▲Golden Hour (emergency evacuation products using airbag principles) ▲AlGeTi (world's first multi-functional modular serving robot) ▲Symbiosis (development of maker-use prosthetic arms for amputees' creative activities) ▲FilterFeel (customized curation and subscription service for culture and arts). Kim Jung-soo, Director of the Daejeon Creative Economy Innovation Center, said, 'Over the past 12 weeks, 21 teams have achieved meaningful results in growth through systematic team building, project commercialization, and practical coaching,' and added, 'We will continue to provide various support for technology-based social ventures.'
