The first entrance ceremony for 'Pulssi Academy' was held on the 7th at the headquarters of the Foundation for Forest and Sharing (Sup-gwa-Nanuum) in Yangjae-dong, Seoul. Pulssi Academy is an educational program for cultivating environmental sector public interest activists, jointly operated by Sup-gwa-Nanuum and Better Future. The program selects young people who are interested in the environmental field or wish to work in the nonprofit sector such as environmental organizations, and supports them to learn knowledge and practical skills in the field over a three-month period. In its first year of operation, the program selected a total of 24 students, overcoming a competition ratio of approximately 2:1. Participants will learn environmental field knowledge through lectures by senior environmental activists who have led domestic environmental movements, including Jang Jae-yeon (Chairman of Sup-gwa-Nanuum), Koo Do-wan (Director of the Environmental & Social Research Institute), Oh Ki-chul (Executive Director of Green Asia), Ha Ji-won (CEO of EcoMom Korea), and Choi Jun-ho (Secretary General of the Korean Federation for Environmental Movement). They will also receive practical coaching on organizational management and proposal writing from experts in the social sector and corporate sector, including Cho Sang-rae (CEO of Underdogs), Park Won-jeong (Director of Lush Korea), and Kim Do-young (CEO of CSR Forum). During the team-based idea planning and practice sessions, time is allocated for visiting sites relevant to each team's theme and receiving explanations from experts. Each team will be provided with 3 million won to realize their ideas, and the team selected as the best idea will receive 20 million won in startup funds for nonprofit ventures. Chairman Jang Jae-yeon of Sup-gwa-Nanuum, who attended the entrance ceremony, encouraged the participants by saying, "I hope that Pulssi Academy will produce talented individuals who can change the landscape of the domestic environmental field." Following the entrance ceremony, the first lecture of Pulssi Academy took place. Chairman Jang Jae-yeon, who taught the first class, shared his experiences as an environmental expert over the past 30 years and conducted a lecture exploring the vision of nonprofit movements. Subsequently, Director Koo Do-wan held a session introducing the history of domestic environmental movements and 'ecological democracy,' which has recently emerged as a key topic in the environmental field.
