GS Retail will hold an online performance sharing event for the 3rd term of its 'Social Impact Project' supporting social ventures from October 14th (Wednesday) for one week. The 'Social Impact Project' is GS Retail's corporate social responsibility initiative that began in 2017 to support social ventures at the startup stage of social enterprises. It focuses on discovering and nurturing social innovation startup teams in the manufacturing sector that solve social problems through business to realize better social value. The project is operated in partnership with Underdogs and Korea Social Investment Foundation. The 10 teams selected for the 3rd term received practical startup lectures and customized one-on-one business coaching from May to September this year. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, all startup education processes and the awards ceremony were conducted online. The performance sharing event concluding the project will also be held online, and online booths introducing the 10 teams and their product descriptions have been created on the 'Social Impact Project' homepage for more customers to view. At the online awards ceremony held on October 7th (Wednesday), 1 grand prize team and 2 excellence award teams were selected through product idea evaluation of the 10 teams participating in the 3rd term of the 'Social Impact Project'. 'Special People,' which won the grand prize, proposed air fresheners and frames using natural moss that can prevent environmental pollution from indiscriminate interior decoration production. The business model, which continuously creates jobs for young people with disabilities and single mothers, also received great response during the presentation. The excellence awards were won by 'Diamantista,' which proposed eco-friendly jewelry, and 'Totu Company,' which designed sanitary pads that solve environmental pollution problems and create jobs for women with career gaps. Meanwhile, various SNS events are being held for customers who visit the online booth on the 'Social Impact Project' homepage. Coffee coupons, chicken coupons, and products from the 'Social Impact Project' will be given to customers who write about the product they most want and why on the 'Social Impact Project' Facebook after viewing the online booth, or customers who promoted the project and products on their own SNS channels.
