The Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center will hold a 'Social Venture Online Special Lecture' on November 11 to promote understanding of social ventures. This educational program is part of the '2020 Regional Social Venture Development Project' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and jointly organized by the Korea Youth Entrepreneurship Foundation, Korea Technology Finance Corporation, and the Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center. This is the first such special lecture held this year for the general public in Gyeongnam Province. The event will be livestreamed through the Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center's YouTube channel, and anyone can participate after registering in advance. Under the theme of 'Social Ventures Creating a Sustainable Tomorrow,' the program features lectures on △Understanding Social Ventures (Instructor: Underdogs CEO Jo Sang-rae) and △Growth Cases of Gyeongnam Social Ventures (Instructor: Technology Forest CEO Kong Tae-young). A Q&A talk concert related to social venture startups will also be held through real-time comments. A 'social venture' refers to a company that maximizes profits through innovative technology or business models to solve social problems, possessing characteristics of both social enterprises and venture companies. Facing the COVID-19 era, anyone dreaming of becoming a social venture startup that solves diverse new problems while pursuing innovative business models based on creative ideas is expected to participate. Center Director Lee Dong-hyung stated, "Through this special lecture, we hope to foster regional interest in social ventures and provide an opportunity for anyone interested in social ventures and social values to take a step closer to social venture entrepreneurship. We anticipate this will be a time where participants can engage without burden through online livestreaming and exchange opinions."
