SK Nexcillis, an investment company of SK's secondary battery copper foil business with production facilities in Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, has opened a youth startup space called 'Shared Store' and taken the first step toward revitalizing the local economy. SK Nexcillis announced on the 8th that it held the opening ceremony for its 1st and 2nd shared stores on the 7th in collaboration with Jeongeup City, created near a traditional market in the region. This is the first result of the 'Joy'n Jeongeup' regional rediscovery project being jointly pursued by SK Nexcillis and Jeongeup City. The opening ceremony was attended by Kim Young-tae, CEO of SK Nexcillis, Yu Jin-seop, Mayor of Jeongeup City, and Kim Jung-hyun, CEO of startup education company Underdogs. The Shared Store is a space designed to open sales channels for young entrepreneurs. Stores 1 and 2 were created by remodeling vacant stores near Samgoeul Market, the largest traditional market in Jeollabuk-do. 'Restaurant 22' by food director Jung-jin Jung, opening in store 1, showcases fine dining using local specialties such as Korean beef and oats. In store 2, 'More and More,' a lifestyle company from Gunsan, operates an editing shop selling fragranced products inspired by Jeongeup attractions such as Naejangsan Mountain. SK Nexcillis and Jeongeup City plan to develop the old downtown area of Jeongeup as a 'signature area' centered around the Shared Store. The Shared Store will be operated as a 6-month pop-up store to encourage participation by many young entrepreneurs and support those leaving here to settle in the Jeongeup area. Additionally, plans are in place to increase the number of shared store platforms. Simultaneously, startup capacity enhancement consulting will be provided to small business owners in the region and they will be invited to participate in the shared store platform. Beyond this, the company will discover and plan content for Jeongeup citizens and tourists to enjoy. It will promote walking competitions utilizing trekking courses to enjoy the beauty of Naejangsan Mountain and food truck festivals that invite food trucks from across the country and operate local restaurant booths. Kim Young-tae, CEO of SK Nexcillis, said, "With the opening of shared stores 1 and 2, we have taken the first step of the 'Joy'n Jeongeup' project for regional revitalization. As a member of the local community, SK Nexcillis will create content that allows more people to visit and enjoy Jeongeup and contribute to local economic revitalization, thereby increasing social value."
