Sharing Revitalization Strategies for Regional Commercial Districts Nationwide Through Strengthening Small Business Competitiveness Digital Transformation and Brand Enhancement Education for Small Businesses: A Method of Realizing ESG Values UnderDogs (CEO Cho Sang-rae), a startup education specialist company, successfully held the 'UnderDogs PaceMaker Seminar' on the 2nd in Sindang-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, targeting ESG and social contribution managers from various companies. This second PaceMaker seminar addressed the theme of 'Fostering Entrepreneurial Small Businesses and ESG.' PaceMaker originally refers to a role in sports such as marathons that enables athletes to achieve better records in actual competitions. Based on the insight that the process of ESG management practice is like a long marathon journey, the seminar was organized with the intention for various companies and UnderDogs to encourage each other and complete this journey together. The seminar was designed to understand the social value and various impacts that ESG activities supporting small businesses can create, and to derive strategic implementation plans for each company, featuring presentations including 'Small and Medium Enterprise Support Policies for Entrepreneurial Small Businesses' by Lee Chung-soo, an official from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Naver leader Shin Ji-man's 'Naver Flower Project' supporting small business owners and creators' growth, and UnderDogs' networking programs. Lee Chung-soo from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups explained that policies to support small business growth will shift toward private-led infrastructure development and growth cultivation. He added that this is based on the flow where creative small business owners grow into local creators by utilizing regional resources, develop into brand commercial districts representing locals with culture and stories, and various local brands gather to create attractions. He also introduced new support systems for fostering entrepreneurial small businesses, including equity conversion systems for small business owners, loan matching combined with personal investment funds, and crowdfunding in local neighborhoods. Naver leader Shin Ji-man introduced various activities for digital capability enhancement of small business creators and small business cooperation beyond providing the SmartStore technology platform. He mentioned not only fast settlement within SmartStore, but also the 'Local Market Shopping' service for digital transformation of traditional markets nationwide and the 'Local Food Brand School' currently in progress with UnderDogs aimed at enhancing small business branding capabilities. He noted that these activities are based on SmartStore platform discovering approximately 85,000 digital entrepreneurs since 2017, and growing together with diverse small businesses can be both the identity of the business and a long-term strategy. Cho Sang-rae, CEO of UnderDogs, said, 'As ESG management practice by companies becomes increasingly important, we hope that strengthening competitiveness with small businesses through the PaceMaker seminar prepared by UnderDogs will be widely recognized as a way to address various problems in our society.' UnderDogs has been implementing projects by theme aimed at strengthening small business competitiveness and responding to regional depopulation, including strengthening small business capabilities, creating regional attractions centered on entrepreneurial small businesses, and nationwide startup education to address regional decline.
